The Mahe Megalo Strikers triumphed over the Karaikal Kniights by a margin of 15 runs in a thrilling T20 match at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground. Ragavan Ramamoorthy's blistering 77 and Shrikaran A's quickfire 42 were the standout batting performances, while Bhupender Chauhan and Nitesh Sedai impressed with three wickets each. Kamaleeshwaran A's four catches further highlighted the fielding efforts.
After being sent in to bat by the Karaikal Kniights, the Mahe Megalo Strikers posted a commanding total of 182/8 in 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Ragavan Ramamoorthy, who smashed a scintillating 77 off 43 balls with 10 boundaries and 2 sixes, showcasing his ability to dominate the bowlers.
In the latter stages, Shrikaran A provided a crucial boost with an explosive 42 off 21 balls*, striking at a phenomenal strike rate of 200. His innings included 4 fours and 2 sixes, ensuring the Strikers crossed the 180-mark.
However, the Strikers' batting lineup faced challenges as Bhupender Chauhan and Nitesh Sedai wreaked havoc, taking 3 wickets each. Chauhan's 3/28 in 4 overs, including the crucial wickets of Ajay Rohera and Aahil Kachru, was instrumental in keeping the Strikers in check. Sedai’s 3/31 in 4 overs further dented the innings with his sharp bowling.
Chasing 183, the Karaikal Kniights fought valiantly but ultimately fell short, finishing at 167/5 in 20 overs. Mohammed Aqib Jawad provided a steady start with a composed 37 off 38 balls, but the required run rate kept climbing.
Md Waseef Mukadam’s unbeaten 36 off 24 balls and Aman F Khan’s blistering 24 off 10 balls gave the Kniights hope, but it wasn’t enough to chase down the target.
The Strikers' bowlers kept their cool in the death overs. Sagar Udeshi was the pick of the bowlers with 2/21 in 4 overs, maintaining a miserly economy rate of 5.2. Nithiyananda Raman also shone with his tight spell of 1/19 in 4 overs, adding pressure to the Kniights' chase.
