Kandy Falcons secured a comprehensive victory over Dambulla Sixers by 43 runs. Kusal Perera led the charge with a solid batting performance, while Nuwan Thushara's impressive four-wicket haul dismantled the Sixers' chase. Sahibzada Farhan's valiant 74 runs went in vain for the Sixers.
The match began with Dambulla Sixers winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Kandy Falcons set a formidable target by scoring 194/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Lahiru Udara was the standout performer with the bat for Kandy Falcons, scoring a brisk 51 off 34 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes. Contributions from Kusal Perera (25 off 20), Moeen Ali (24 off 13), and Wanindu Hasaranga (29 off 15) helped boost the total.
The bowling attack of Dambulla Sixers struggled to contain the aggressive batting, with Fazalhaq Farooqi being the most economical bowler, taking 2 wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs.
In response, Dambulla Sixers started strong with Sahibzada Farhan smashing an impressive 74 off just 45 deliveries, hitting 7 fours and 4 sixes. However, his efforts were not enough as wickets fell at regular intervals. Nuwan Thushara was the star with the ball for Kandy Falcons, claiming 4 crucial wickets for just 29 runs, which included key dismissals that hindered the Sixers' progress.
Reeza Hendricks tried to anchor the innings with a steady knock of 27 from 21 balls, but lacked support from the middle order. Dushan Hemantha also chipped in with two wickets to keep the pressure on.
The Sixers eventually managed to score only 151/8 in their innings, falling short by 43 runs. The match featured some excellent fielding displays with Dhananjaya Lakshan taking two catches for Kandy Falcons.
Nuwan Thushara's outstanding bowling performance earned him the title of Player of the Match, highlighting his crucial role in securing victory for Kandy Falcons.
