In an exciting T20 match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Sikkim triumphed over Nagaland by 7 wickets. Sikkim's Kranthi Kumar was a standout performer with both bat and ball, contributing significantly to their victory.
Nagaland won the toss and opted to bat first. However, their innings did not go as planned. They struggled against a disciplined Sikkim bowling attack, managing only 101 runs in 19 overs. The top scorer for Nagaland was Dega Nischal, who made a valiant effort with 33 runs off 26 balls, including three boundaries. Chetan Bist also contributed with 30 runs from 32 deliveries. Unfortunately, no other batsman crossed the 20-run mark, which left Nagaland with a modest total.
Sikkim's bowlers were on point, with Gurinder Singh leading the charge by taking 4 wickets for just 14 runs. His crucial breakthroughs included dismissing Rongsen Jonathan and Imliwati Lemtur. Kranthi Kumar also played a key role by taking two important wickets and later shone with the bat as well.
Chasing a target of 102, Sikkim started steadily despite losing Amit Rajera early for 16 runs. K Sai Satwik anchored the innings with a composed knock of 32 runs off 27 balls. However, it was Kranthi Kumar who ensured Sikkim's victory with an unbeaten 36 off just 25 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes to seal the win in style.
Kumar's all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award, as he not only contributed significantly with the bat but also picked up two key wickets during Nagaland's innings. His efforts helped Sikkim chase down the target comfortably in just 12.4 overs.
Overall, it was a dominant performance by Sikkim, showcasing their strength in both bowling and batting departments to secure a comprehensive victory over Nagaland.
